SPRINGFIELD, IL – August 13, 2014 – Today, Levi Ray & Shoup, Inc. (LRS) is announcing a new product designed to improve printing in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments. The Virtual Session Printer Agent for VPSX® (VSPA) product extends the capabilities of the LRS® Enterprise Output Server to companies implementing VDI solutions across their networks.
“Many organizations are looking to VDI as a way to reduce costs while improving security, business agility and worker mobility,” says John Runions, LRS Director of Worldwide Alliance Sales. “But users and IT administrators may encounter issues and complexities with printing in a VDI environment that are different from standard Windows® desktops. Working with our partner Citrix, we’ve developed a solution that makes printing from XenDesktop simple and intuitive for users as well as easier for IT organizations to deploy and support.”
The new solution lets IT staff associate users, printers and terminals in an intelligent manner, ensuring that these definitions are persistent across virtual desktop sessions. In addition to making VDI more transparent to users, VSPA software also facilitates “location-based” printing so users can conveniently access printers near a given terminal. It supports any terminal hardware platform, giving customers greater flexibility without additional complexity. IT administrators can use a simple web-based interface to configure and maintain their VDI print environments.
