Given the year we've had, one could be forgiven for overlooking what season we're entering. But around the world, especially in Europe, people started off the week with the celebration of St. Nicholas' Day.
In some countries, this means setting one's shoes outside the front door and hoping some magical visitor will leave treats or toys, rather than a lump of coal, as a reward for the past year's behavior. Here in the United States, the visitor is more likely to be a mail carrier or package courier with a sack full of deliveries from online retailers.
